Does your child already study English but still struggle to read it confidently?

If your child guesses words, avoids reading aloud, or seems to know some English but still cannot read independently with confidence, they may need more targeted support. Noah's Phonics Ark helps children aged 7–11 build stronger English reading foundations through a custom-built, structured curriculum designed specifically for children who already study English but still struggle to read confidently.

This support is for children who…

  • already study English but still do not read confidently
  • guess words instead of actually reading them
  • hesitate or avoid reading aloud
  • know some English but cannot yet read independently
  • attend bilingual, international or private schools, or English courses
  • need more focused support than a generic English class

If you feel your child already has plenty of contact with English but the reading has not really happened yet, this support may be a good fit.

Why do so many children study English but still not read it confidently?

Many children memorise words, repeat phrases, and recognise vocabulary. But when they actually need to read, they hesitate, guess, or avoid it. In most cases, the issue is not intelligence or effort. What is missing is more structured support for reading in English.

Guesses words instead of decoding

They recognise some words and understand parts of lessons, but still do not read with confidence or independence.

Avoids reading aloud

Many children look only at the first letter, use the picture, or rely on memory. To an adult, it can look like reading. But the foundation is still weak.

Cannot read independently

They know some English but cannot yet read independently with confidence.

Lacks clear reading foundation

That creates doubt, frustration, and uncertainty, especially when your child has been doing English for some time but still avoids reading aloud.

What families are saying

Parent feedback

"Such pride seeing her grow like this. She learned to read in Portuguese and also started English literacy at home using phonics. Her progress was so great that I felt I needed to find a native teacher who used this same method, to build on what we'd started in English. Congratulations, teacher Stephen, for this incredible work with such a strong scientific foundation." — Micaela

Parent feedback

"We love the course's teaching method — it helps unlock reading through phonics and correct word pronunciation. Simply amazing!" — Rosie

Frequently asked questions

What happens in the free assessment?
In the free assessment, I look at how your child is reading now and assess areas such as word reading, English sound knowledge, pronunciation, comprehension, and confidence. At the end, I explain clearly what is working, what may be blocking progress, and what the most suitable next step would be. The assessment also includes a short demonstration of how the actual lessons work and a walkthrough of the materials used in the programme, so you can see the approach in practice.
What if my child is shy?
That is very common. The goal is not to pressure but to build confidence step by step. Groups are kept small precisely so every child has room to try, get it wrong, and gain confidence at their own pace.
How are groups organised?
Groups are formed by reading level and child profile — not just by age. That means your child works alongside children at the same point in the reading journey.
What happens after the assessment?
I explain what I observed, show you the main points clearly, and tell you honestly whether the programme is the right fit. If it is not, I say so — and point you towards a more suitable path.
Does this work online?
Yes. Lessons are live, interactive, and structured. For many children, online lessons work very well when the teaching is clear, focused, and delivered in a small group.
What if my child already attends a bilingual school?
They may still need more focused reading support. Many children have strong English exposure, but still have not received a sufficiently clear pathway into reading.
Do I need to speak English?
No. I explain the process and your child's progress clearly for parents. You do not need to speak English to notice whether your child is moving forward.
How does payment work for international families?
The first step is the free English Reading Assessment. If the programme feels like the right fit, I then explain the payment options clearly. International families can usually pay by card, and PayPal may also be available if needed.
